本州、九州から記録されているが、日本に広く分布していると思われる。寄主植物はマツの花で成虫はO. japonicusのように本州では4月下旬～5月上旬に見られる。O. japonicusとは長い口錐を持つことで識別される。また、後者よりもやや高地に生息しているようである。

This species has been recorded from Honshu and Kyushu, but probably it is widely distributed into Japan. It breeds on the flowers of Pinus spp. and the adult occurs from mid-April to early May as O. japonicus. It can be distinguished from O. japonicus by having very long mouth cone, and it seems to be occurs on high-altitude areas than the latter species.
